Since 2016, the company has consistently developed graphene-based technologies, moving from early research to validated medical and protective applications.
This timeline reflects the key milestones that shaped our scientific, technological, and organizational growth.
The Beginning: Vision and First Research (2016)
The story of INTERMERCATUS Biotech begins in 2016, when the initial idea emerged to apply graphene nanotechnology in the field of disinfection and biological protection.
This marked the start of early conceptual and research work focused on the potential of graphene as a modern material with antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.
From the very beginning, the vision extended beyond purely laboratory research, concentrating on practical applications in everyday life and healthcare protection.
Advancing Research and Validation (2019)
In 2019, the research entered an advanced stage.
Intensive laboratory testing and the first validation processes were initiated, allowing the technology to mature and confirming the correctness of the chosen development path.
The results clearly demonstrated the strong potential of graphene nanostructures in protective and medical applications.
Technological Breakthrough and First Implementations (2021–2023)
The years 2021–2023 marked a technological breakthrough.
During this period, a graphene nanoparticle was developed that proved to be highly effective in filtration and protective solutions.
This technology found practical application, among others, in surgical masks, where its effectiveness and stability under real-use conditions were successfully demonstrated.
At this stage, INTERMERCATUS solutions clearly transitioned from research into real-world implementation.
Organizational Growth and New Directions (2024)
The year 2024 was a period of intense organizational and technological growth.
A research laboratory was established in Warsaw, and the INTERMERCATUS Biotech team expanded significantly.
At the same time, research was conducted in renowned external laboratories, enabling independent verification of the developed technologies.
During this period:
- a company was established in the United Kingdom,
- the concept of an innovative bariatric gastric pouch was born,
- a specialized expert team dedicated to this project was gradually assembled.
Strategic Restructuring and International Expansion (2025)
In 2025, the group underwent strategic restructuring and consolidation.
INTERMERCATUS BioTech Inc. was established in the United States, becoming the holding and owning entity of the entire group.
The team was significantly expanded with new specialists, and the U.S.-based parent company acquired shares in INTERMERCATUS Services Limited, headquartered in London.
Leadership of the Polish group was assumed by INTERMERCATUS BioTech S.A., based in Warsaw, under the management of an outstanding executive, Ryszard Pikula.
Investments, Partnerships, and New Research Areas (2025)
During the same year, the company:
- signed its first memoranda of understanding and letters of intent related to technological and business cooperation,
- entered discussions with potential investors, resulting in a strong and positive market response.
In December 2025, six private individuals invested in the company by acquiring an investor share package in INTERMERCATUS BioTech Inc.
At the same time:
- negotiations were initiated with partners from the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Turkey regarding market entry,
- a new research direction was launched, focusing on the application of graphene in renovation and thermal insulation materials for the construction industry, with initial studies commencing.
Ongoing Growth and Future Outlook (2026)
The year 2026 marks a phase of further development, project scaling, and strengthening of the international presence of INTERMERCATUS Biotech.
